Alkyl Nitrite

Name: Alkyl Nitrite

Other Names: Amyl nitrite, butyl nitrite, isobutyl nitrite and poppers.

What it Looks Like: Most commonly comes as a clear, yellowish liquid covered in a thin glass capsule.

How Used: Usually the capsule is broken and the drug is inhaled.

Effect: Relaxes body muscles, dilates blood vessels and increases heart rate. Gives a short-term excitement high. Often used as a sexual enhancer.

Possible noticeable symptoms of use, abuse or withdrawal:

  • Decreased judgment
  • Flushed skin
  • Uncontrolled laughing and hilarity
