Barbiturates

Name: Barbiturates

Other Names: Barbs, goof balls, pinks, red devils and yellow jackets.

What it Looks Like: These are generally prescription drugs that come as tablets, and capsules of different colors, shapes and sizes, depending on the manufacturer.

How Used: Most commonly swallowed and sometimes injected.

Effect: Used as a relaxant and to generate a state of euphoria.

Possible noticeable symptoms of use, abuse or withdrawal:

  • Clumsiness
  • Difficulty focusing / thinking / talking
  • Difficulty walking
  • Needle tracks / vein damage
  • Poor balance / falling / bruises
  • Poor judgment
  • Possession of hypodermic needles
  • Pupils contracted
  • Sleepiness
  • Slurred speech
  • Weakness / shakiness
